The route day after day

Day 1 – San Jose

Holà Adventurers, We will come to welcome you at the airport to give you your special family photo rally missions. So, ready to take on the adventure? You will be taken to your hotel in San José.

Day 2 – San Jose / Tortuguero National Park

Early in the morning, you go to the region of Tortuguero, on the Caribbean coast. On the way, you will first cross the lush Braulio Carrillo Park, covered by thick tropical rainforest, before going through the banana plantations, for which Costa Rica is one of the world’s leading exporters.

In Caño Blanco or La Pavona, depending on the water level, that you will board a motor boat to navigate between tropical flora and fauna to your lodge. In the afternoon, you can enjoy the gardens and the swimming pool of your lodge. (Full board)

Day 3 – Tortuguero National Park

In the morning, departure for Tortuguero National Park. This large water park is made up entirely of canals and lagoons in the middle of an impressive jungle. It is therefore through this unique and extraordinary network of canals, rivers and marshes in the heart of the jungle, that you will go with your guide to discover caimans, toucans, turtles, howler monkeys, parrots, sloths, iguanas and multi-colored birds.

In the afternoon, you can enjoy the lodge’s trails or activities. Second night at your lodge. (Full board)

Day 4 – Guapiles - Arenal Volcano

In the morning, you will sail to Caño Blanco or La Pavona depending on the water level, before hitting the road to Guápiles. You will spend the night in a new lodge, located in Arenal (Bkf, L)

 

 

 

Day 5 – Arenal Volcano

You will enjoy a route of approximately 3 kilometers crossing the primary forest and fifteen suspension bridges over the canopy, from where you will have a breathtaking view of the tropical vegetation and the Arenal Volcano! Then, relaxe and have fun in the spa of Baldi.

You can take advantage of the different baths and swimming pools, waterfalls and slides. The hot water comes directly from the hot springs of the Arenal Volcano without ever coming into contact with the magma. Second night at your lodge in Arenal. (Bkf, D)

Day 6 – Rincon de la Vieja

Departure for the province of Guanacaste, land of Sabaneros, these proud and colorful cowboys. You will follow Lake Arenal, an ideal site for windsurfing before reaching Cañas where it is possible to stop at the Las Pumas de Cañas animal park, a private center for the protection of felines (jaguars, pumas, jaguarundis, margays, ocelots …).

Then, you arrive in the region of the Rincon de la Vieja National Park. This park, created in 1973, is home to a very large concentration of orchids, including the local flower, ‘Guaria morada ’. By staying at your hacienda, you have free access to the thermal waters of the Rio Negro, thermal water pools located 15 minutes away. You will spend the night in a typical hacienda. (Bkf)

Day 7 –Rincon de la Vieja Volcano

After 45 minutes of horse riding through the dry tropical forest, you will arrive at La Catarata Victoria, where you will receive your own round buoy. You will then descend the Río Negro with crystal clear waters and cross rough rapids. This playful experience is one of the most pleasant ways to cross this Guanacastec setting. Day 8 – Samara

Route from Rincon de la Vieja to Samara (approx.. 4 hours). You will stay in a bungalow with a full equipped kitchen. Overnight at your hotel in Samara. (Bkf)

Day 9 – Samara

Free time in this small seaside resort located in the center of the Nicoya Peninsula. Indented in a bay four kilometers long, the sea is relatively calm. You can enjoy the beaches and tropical vegetation, explore the seabed with mask and snorkel, ride a horse or a quad, or take a boat trip on the Pacific … Second night in your hotel in Samara. (Bkf)..

Day 10 – Samara

For half a day you will have the unique opportunity to observe dolphins in their natural environment. You may be lucky enough to spot turtles and the many humpback whales that inhabit the seabed of the Pacific coast. At the end of the tour, wearing a mask and a snorkel, you will also explore the magnificent seabed of the region. Third night in your hotel in Samara. (Bkf)

Day 11 – Monteverde reserve

Route from Samara to Monteverde (approx.. 3h30). Overnight at your hotel in Monteverde. (Bkf)

Day 12 – Monteverde reserve

You will experience a guided visit of the Curi Cancha reserve, you will walk on small paths surrounded by nature to discover the different species of birds and mammals. You will learn many things about the incredible diversity of the ‘cloud forest’. Second night in your hotel in Monteverde. (Bkf)

Day 13 – Manuel Antonio

Route from Monteverde to Manuel Antonio (approx. 4 hours). Overnight in your hotel on the hill of Manuel Antonio. (Bkf)

Day 14 – Manuel Antonio National Park

Today you will explore Manuel Antonio National Park. Swimming in the crystal clear waters, relaxing on the sandy beaches, walking in the tropical vegetation … The site is ideal for the observation of many animals such as sloths and squirrel monkeys. Second night at your hotel on the hill of Manuel Antonio. (Bkf)

Day 15 - Departure

Route from Manuel Antonio to San Jose (approx.. 3h30). (Bkf)

Important: depending on your international flight schedule, plan to stay overnight in San José the day before departure.
